Allianz Ladies Slovak Open LogoWell I arrived to play in the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open at 4am on Tuesday morning. It was a long 10 hr bus ride from Germany!! So after a quick nap, we headed up to the course to have a practice round. WOW, the greens were very interesting, how to describe it, dead elephants buried underneath them! The slopes were actually so severe you knew exactly where the pin positions were going to be, as there wasn’t many spot you could put a flag!

So after some more practice and some rest, I hit off at 12:10 on Thursday. I was hitting it very solid off the tee which always give you confidence, I seemed to struggle a bit with my irons, but holed some putts to sign my card for a 1 under, 71. This put me in 13th position, and I was feeling good about my 7am Friday hit off.

Allianz Ladies Slovak Open

My day to be honest went pretty much similar to Thursday, solid again, holed few putts for birdie, and missed some which resulted in bogeys, the only difference today was on the 8th (our 17th) I walked up to green we couldn’t see and my ball was not there, initially I was a little disappointed as I thought it was going to be close, as I walk to go searching over the back, I notice the ball in the hole!! An eagle 2 sure helps the score card along, so I signed for a 3 under 69, to move me up to T4 going into the weekend.

This was sure a different position for me. 2 weeks ago I was wondering when will I make a cut, and now I was in the top 5 going into the weekend! Strange game!

Caroline Hedwall - Alliance Ladies Slovak Open WinnerSo as you can imagine I was pretty nervous, I struggled at the beginning, I guess it was nerves, and I was just putting the ball on the green in the wrong spots, with long, slopping putts. So after 8 holes I was +3, but a big storm came in and we were called off for the rest of the day and the tournament was to be cut to 54 holes. So out we went Sunday to finish our round. I played very steady golf, I birded the 9th hole, then had 9 straight pars, to finish in T8th position.  Golf is funny, no matter where you finish you want to finish better, and think, what if I did this, or this happened, and this was the case with me, but all in all, I am very very happy with this week, and hope I can take a lot of confidence from this into Holland next week. Fellow Rookie, Caroline Headwall had her 1st win on the European Tour, which I am so happy for her.

So a big thank you for your support and chat soon!
Cheers,
Stacey
