ALPG_LogoWell what a busy couple of weeks it has been! ☺ After the festive season we were straight back into things with the ALPG pro-ams. I always look forward to this week as it’s a good way to get back into competition mode but in a relaxed way.

I had a good week, winning the first pro-am at The Vintage, which I was very happy about, scoring -3,-2 to win by 2.

Pro am winner

The next one wasn’t so great, but finished the week ok in Mt Broughton with -2, even, T7th.
Then we start the bigger events, first one being NSW Open. I have played this event every year it has been on, and have had some good scores on this course, Oatlands Golf Club, but haven’t managed to put 3 rounds together.
This time was better, shooting -6 first round to be tied for lead, yet having 1 over in some tough conditions set me back a little. Going into the last day I was 4 behind leader Caroline Hedwall. So I knew I would need a good one to get anywhere near the top. I played solid but nothing really dropped for the day, and shot -3 to finish -8 and in 5th place. My best finish in this event, so I was very pleased and was hoping to carry the form into next weeks Volvik RACV Ladies Masters.
We arrived to a very wet/windy QLD. We really have to feel sorry for this event, as every year they seem to put on a great event despite the weather!
Well when the draw came out I thought all my Christmases had come at once. I was paired with Karrie Webb and JiYai Shin. I have been fortunate enough to get to know Karrie quite well but never had the chance to play in an event with her.

kw skProbably the most nervous I have been in a competition for a while!! But I was very pleased with my play, and shot -4, -5 for the first two days to be -9 total and playing in the final group going into the last round. I always say if I’m contending in events I will be happy! Things didn’t go as I would wish in the final round and I signed for even par to be -9 for the event, and finished 6th place. Overall I was very pleased with the week, by far the best I have played in this event.

So now we head to New Zealand.

Look forward to keeping you posted! ☺
Cheers
Stacey
